THE VARIOUS TYPES OF HEARING AIDS

1. Completely in the Canal (CIC)

2. Open Micro-Contours

3. Micro-Contours in ear-in-ear Devices or RITE (Receiver In The Ear)

4. Ear Contours or BTE (Behind The Ear)

The smallest custom made style, CIC instruments fit deeply and entirely within the ear canal.
They fit mild to moderate hearing losses and offer high cosmetic appeal as they’re nearly invisible when worn.

The open micro-contour device is placed around the ear. It consist of a microphone tube which conducts the sound to a standard tip. This device is ideal as it does not obstruct the ear canal. Although these devices do not address all hearing loss issues, open micro-contours offer a comfortable hearing experience.

Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) hearing aids are smaller devices. Compared to open hearing aids, these are equipped with a micro tube which contains an electric cable connected to an earphone that is placed inside the auditory canal.
This is most probably the best compromise between efficiency and discretion.

For patients with more severe hearing loss or with smaller ear canals, behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE) are a great solution. All the electronic parts in the hearing aids are hidden in the cover that sits discreetly behind the ear. A customized earmold and tube channels sound into the ear. In addition, one can easily control volume and select programs.
